I have a Pavilion 590-P0066 that will not power on. Push power button and there is no response. No leds, no fan movement, nothing. The problem has to be the power supply or the motherboard.
How can the proprietary HP power supply ( L08262-003 ) be tested?
I will not "just buy a new P/S", as they are so expensive, just to find out that the motherboard is dead.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
That is easy enough to check: connect any green wire with a black wire, such as on this P2 connector as demonstrated a minute ago on this 320-watt HP p/n: 702306-001 power supply I had laying around in one of my ever-growing spare parts boxes:
If your PSU is A-OK, the cooling fan should come on. If it doesn't, your PSU is toast.
Kind Regards,
