Hi @mshovon
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your semicolon key is being pressed automatically, cleaning the keyboard is a great first step. Here’s how to do it:
Turn Off & Disconnect the Keyboard
- If using a wired keyboard, unplug it.
- If using a laptop keyboard, shut down the laptop.
Use Compressed Air
- Hold the keyboard at an angle and spray compressed air to remove dust.
- Focus on the semicolon key area.
Remove & Clean the Key (If Possible)
- If your keyboard allows key removal, gently pry off the semicolon key using a plastic tool.
- Clean underneath with a soft brush or microfiber cloth.
Check for Sticky Keys in Windows Settings
- Go to Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard.
- Disable Sticky Keys and Filter Keys if they are enabled.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Keyboards, right-click your keyboard, and select Update driver → Search automatically.
- If the issue persists, uninstall the keyboard driver and restart your PC.
If cleaning doesn’t fix it, the key may be physically damaged or the keyboard might need replacement. Let me know if you need further assistance! 🚀
