I got error message 45.

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

Reboot your PC.

 

Check Device Manager. Roll back the driver if possible or uninstall the device and reboot the PC.

 

The last Windows update may be the cause of your problem.

 

Highly unlikely this is the problem but check SATA and power connections to this device.

I did install and reboot - it did  not fix the problem

Hi Donette,

 

Did you uninstall the device in Device Manager, remove the drivers if you get this prompt, the reboot the PC.

 

Windows should reinstall the drivers.

 

Then try a driver rollback.

 

Also check SATA connections to the drive and the motherboard and power connections to the drive.

 

Run a check disk (Link) to check system files.

 

Run Windows Update to check for newer drivers.
