@Peter70793,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your PC’s firmware is alerting you that the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) has detected inconsistent or corrupted data. This can happen after firmware/BIOS updates, system board changes, or sometimes just from a TPM memory glitch.

What the Options Mean:

  • Press [Y] – Reset TPM
    This option clears the TPM. This resets all TPM keys, which may trigger BitLocker to request your recovery key on the next boot. (Make sure you have that recovery key backed up in your Microsoft account or elsewhere before choosing this.)

  • Press [N] – Boot with current data
    This lets you continue using Windows as-is, but the warning will likely reappear until the TPM is reset.

Recommended Steps:

  1. Back up your BitLocker recovery key (if BitLocker is enabled).

  2. Check for BIOS/firmware updates via https://support.hp.com, or your product’s support page. Sometimes these updates resolve TPM warnings.

  3. Reset the TPM safely:

    • Enter BIOS/UEFI SecurityClear TPM (wording may vary).

    • Or choose [Y] at the startup prompt after ensuring you have your BitLocker recovery key.

  4. After reset, Windows will automatically re-initialize the TPM and re-seal BitLocker keys.

Warranty Note:

Since your HP warranty runs until March 2027, you are covered. If the warning keeps reappearing even after a proper TPM reset, contact HP Support -it may indicate a failing TPM chip or system board issue.

In summary: The TPM warning is usually not hardware-fatal. Just back up your BitLocker recovery key first, update BIOS, and then clear/reset the TPM. If the issue persists, use your warranty with HP.

Kind Regards,
