I added 32 GB of RAM to my PC a few months back and it was only running at 2133mhz. So I overclocked to a "preset profile" in the options after spamming F10 on startup. The preset profile is "XMP Profile 1". Everything has been running fine until two days ago randomly my computer fans got loud and my computer shut off on me. I turned it back on and it gave an error message of something along the lines of "thermal shutdown occurred" with more text saying how it needs more time to cool down. I then changed the overclock back to the DEFAULT profile. No shutdowns. No errors. UNTIL I turn XMP Profile 1 back on.
There is no Live chat with an AGENT with HP Support. So here I am. Would appreciate any help. I would like to at the end of the day have my MEMORY running at the advertised 3200MHz without a thermal shutdown occurring. P.S. I have no dust buildup. Clean as a whistle

@Indevnitely, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like enabling XMP Profile 1 is pushing your system's thermal limits, likely due to increased voltage or tighter memory timings that your cooling setup can't handle under certain conditions.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you safely run your RAM at 3200MHz without triggering thermal shutdowns:
Confirm RAM Compatibility
- Ensure your RAM is listed as compatible with your motherboard. You can check this in the HP Product Specifications or the Upgrading and Servicing Guide for your model:
Update BIOS
- An outdated BIOS can cause instability with XMP profiles.
- Visit the HP Software and Drivers page and enter your product number (GT15-0000a) to check for BIOS updates. Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
Enable XMP Safely
- Reboot and enter BIOS (F10 during startup).
- Instead of selecting the full XMP Profile 1, try manually setting the memory frequency to 2933MHz or 3000MHz first.
- Gradually increase to 3200MHz if stable.
Monitor Temperatures
- Use tools like OMEN Gaming Hub, HWMonitor, or CoreTemp to monitor CPU and system temps.
- If CPU temps exceed 85–90°C under load, consider improving cooling.
Improve Cooling
- Ensure all fans are working and airflow is optimized.
- Consider upgrading the CPU cooler or adding additional case fans.
Reset CMOS (if needed)
- If the system becomes unstable, reset BIOS settings by clearing the CMOS. This is usually done by removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes or using a jumper on the motherboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I'll try updating the BIOS and any drivers and software on HP site links you provided. I have tried setting to lower MHz manually in memory overclocking tab where XMP Profile 1 is aswell. This makes my computer not boot. And I have to end up finding a cmos reset fix. Not sure what to do.

Okay I Updated the BIOS. Should I now see if XMP Profile 1 works again like it used to and risk another thermal shutdown? or am i good to go?
Also, I don't know how to check RAM Compatibility under the Support Page link you provided:
But my RAM I added 32 GB is: VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
and the RAM works at 2133mhz, the defaulted speed I guess.
