Hi:

Normally most desktop PC's don't have BIOS whitelists, so I don't know why the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 M.2 card didn't work.

Below is the link to the HP Quickspecs for your PC.

HP 290 G2 Microtower Business PC

There is only one supported wifi card listed...see page 29.

Realtek 802.11ac (1x1) WiFi and Bluetooth® 4.2 Combo

The description and part number for that card would be:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express.

The card uses a single wifi antenna.

How did you install the card with the PC having no antenna wires or whatnot if it didn't come with an internal wifi card already?

Sometimes you are better off just using an external dual band USB wifi adapter, or an internal PCIe x1 wifi adapter (if your PC has the internal 9-pin USB connector on the motherboard so the Bluetooth works).
