I've been quite troubled recently with the ram on my AIO pc, it says that out of my 16gb of ram (8gb x2) only (7.8gb is available). I've had a look around the internet and most solutions are for people with a PC with a case and 4 ram slots, telling them to insert the ram into the A1 and A2 slots. However, after opening up my AIO PC there only seems to be 2 RAM slots and I'm unsure about what to do next.

Hi @bzzarr1014,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify the RAM Configuration
Power Down and Open the Case:
- Ensure the PC is completely turned off and unplugged from the power source.
- Open the back panel of the AIO PC carefully to access the RAM slots.
Check the RAM Sticks:
- Ensure that both RAM sticks are properly seated in their slots. They should click into place securely.
- Sometimes, reseating the RAM sticks (removing and reinserting them) can help establish a proper connection.
Check BIOS Settings
Enter BIOS Setup:
- Restart your PC and immediately start pressing the ESC, F2, or F10 key (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS setup.
Check Memory Settings:
- Look for the memory settings in the BIOS. Ensure that the system recognizes both 8GB RAM sticks.
Enable Dual Channel Mode (if applicable):
- In some BIOS versions, there might be an option to enable/disable Dual Channel mode. Ensure that Dual Channel mode is enabled.
Update BIOS
Sometimes, memory configuration issues can be resolved by updating the BIOS.
Download the Latest BIOS Update:
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your PC's model number.
- Check for any BIOS updates available for your model and download the latest one.
Update the BIOS:
- Follow the instructions provided on the HP Support website to update your BIOS.
Check RAM Utilization in Windows
Open Task Manager:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Performance tab and click on Memory to see the detailed memory utilization.
Adjust Virtual Memory Settings:
- Sometimes, adjusting the virtual memory settings can help better utilize physical RAM.
- Right-click on This PC > Properties > Advanced system settings > Settings under Performance > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory.
Check for Hardware Issues
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, there may be a problem with one of the RAM sticks or the RAM slots.
Test Each RAM Stick Individually:
- Remove one of the RAM sticks and boot the PC with just one stick installed. Check if the system recognizes the full capacity of the single stick.
- Repeat the process with the other RAM stick.
Test Different RAM Stick Configurations:
- Swap the RAM sticks between the two slots to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
