Hello there. I’m having an issue with my 3-in-1 memory card reader trying to copy photos onto SD cards. Basically, when I try to copy photos, I get the message “This disk is write protected.” The memory card is unlocked as well is other memory cards that I have tried. I get the same message every time. Yet, when I stick an SD card reader into a USB port on my system, I don’t get any messages and everything copies over successfully.
It’s the built in memory card reader where I’m having the issue. My system is an HP Envy TE01-1022. Any help would be appreciated. I don’t want to be using the external card reader all the time.

I suggest reinstalling the Realtec card reader driver

I should have realized that the issue was other than with your PC.
I had been working on another thread at the same time that was similar, but where the root cause is the 3-in-one device itself.
I have had that "locked" experience with USB flash drives in the past.
Sometimes I have been able to use the HP flash disk Storage format utility to repair them.
https://download.cnet.com/hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html
At other times I have had to use the flash drive manufacturer's own utility to make a drive usable again. Take a read of the article at the link below. You can download the Sandisk repair software in the article.

Not all manufacturers provide a utility. For that reason, I only purchase mainstream US flash thumb drive brands.
Here is an third-part article that describes numerous means to attempt to repair USB flash drives.

There have also been flash drive that I have owned that remain locked and no longer useable.
