Hi @Tripx,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your OMEN 25L is having a mix of hardware and software issues that could be affecting system stability and performance. Let's break down each problem and go over some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix them.
Crashing in Games and Static from Headset
- Software/Driver Issues: Crashes and static audio can sometimes stem from outdated or corrupted audio and graphics drivers, especially when gaming or under heavy load. Try reinstalling the audio drivers by following these steps:
- Open Device Manager and locate Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click on your audio device (likely Realtek or OMEN audio) and select Uninstall Device.
- After restarting, Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically, or you can download the latest audio drivers from the HP website.
- Power Supply (PSU): Given your system upgrades, ensure that your power supply is sufficient for the increased power demand. If your PSU is under 500W, you might experience instability, so consider upgrading to a PSU rated at 600W or more.
CPU Fan Warning
- Check the CPU Fan Connection: Make sure your CPU fan is securely connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
- BIOS Settings: Sometimes the fan speed or thresholds are set incorrectly in BIOS. Check for any fan control settings and reset them to default.
- Replace the CPU Cooler: If the fan itself is malfunctioning, consider replacing it with a reliable aftermarket cooler, especially if you plan to upgrade the CPU.
Possible CPU Upgrade
- If your system is still unstable after addressing the above issues, a CPU upgrade could improve performance, but it might not necessarily resolve these specific issues if they stem from cooling, power, or driver-related problems.
- For CPU upgrades, check compatibility with your motherboard model. Options like the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Ryzen 9 5900X (if your motherboard supports them) are excellent choices for gaming and multitasking.
Note:
- Run Hardware Diagnostics: OMEN systems often come with HP hardware diagnostics tools. Run these to check for any signs of failing hardware.
- Reinstall Graphics Drivers: Especially if crashes are common in games, perform a clean install of your graphics drivers (you can use tools like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove old drivers).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
