Trying to Add memory to my dc7900 using Qty 4 2GB DIMM cards - Windows 10, not being detected, will

dc7900 small form factor, Product number SG792UC#ABA. I am adding Qty 2 2GB DIMM memory modules from another (working) dc7900 machine to the existing Qty 2 2GB memory modules and the unit will not boot up. Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

I am wondering if the dc7900 will not allow Qty 4 2GB DIMM modules to be installed??

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Brian:

I am running 4 x 2 GB of PC2-6400 memory in my dc7900 SFF with no problems at all.

I would suggest removing and firmly reseating each memory module.

I did run into an issue with the initial install where the PC beeped 5 times, red LED flashed 5 times, and I even though I swore up and down that I had properly/firmly seated the memory, my only option was to try it again and the second time it worked, and it has been running fine for several years now.

I am running v1.27 on W10 Pro.

If you plan on updating the BIOS, use the F10 BIOS setup flash method since the Windows based flash was only written to be run in W7.

IT WORKED!!!

It looks like it also takes a long time for the machine to restart after installing the memory - I did not receive any warnings or beeps, but it stayed in a state where I did not see or hear the hard drive running, then I hit the power button to power it down, hit the power button again to power it back up, and I waited for some time (more than 3 minutes) and then the hard drive started running and it went through the startup ok and when I look at the system, I see my new RAM count being 8GB!!!
