Hi, I have a HPE h8-1130a desktop PC which the video card has died. We got it fixed and is currently running off the internal video card which is working ok.
I have recently purchased the gigabytee GeForceGTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB video card to install. It fits and according to the specs has enough power. But everytime I turn it on, it just comes up with the blue HP screen saying press esc key for menu, however doesn't do anything when you press esc key and cannot get past this point. It also beeps a few times.
We have gone onto the HP website and downloaded the BIOS update for my computer, but that hasn't helped. Does anyone have any solutions to bypass this issue? I am not very tech savvy so if it's something the professionals need to fix, that is ok. Just wanted to reach out and ask.
Thank you in advance!!

To take a long story short, the problem is the BIOS. For these older PC's, the BIOS is in the 7.** series and in order for the newer graphics cards to work the BIOS needs to be in the 8.** series or newer, which does not exist. Therefore a replacement graphics card needs to be compatible with a legacy BIOS. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is one of those newer cards that will not work with an older BIOS. You can search the HP forum for IPISB-CH2 (Chicago) grahics card upgrade. Here is an example telling the story in more detail

BTW: here is a list of cards that should work
- GeForce GT420 (2 GB)
- GeForce GT440 (1.5 GB)
- GeForce GT440 (3 GB)
- GeForce GTX460 (1 GB)
- GeForce GT530 (2 GB)
- GeForce GT545 (3 GB)
- GeForce GTX550i (1 GB)
- Radeon HD 6450 (1 GB)
- Radeon HD 6570 (1 GB) single bracket; DVI, HDMI, & VGA via adapter
- Radeon HD 6570 (1 GB) single bracket; DVI, HDMI, DP & VGA via adapter
- Radeon HD 6670 (1 GB)
- Radeon HD 6850 (1 GB)
