I have a HP 2AF7 with an i5 4440, Corsair 750M, 16 gigs (2x 😎 DDR3 RAM and currently running NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760. I need (would make my life easier) to upgrade my GPU for AI/ ML. I have been looking at ASUS Cerberus GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB. Would this GPU be compatible with the rest of my system?  If not can you recommend a better GPU than the one I currently have that would be compatible with my system? Thanks!

P.S. GPU needs to be INVIDIA for ML libraries since they run on CUDA.

@MM95,

I would have liked to know the computer model, but I can be subjective.

As you have a GTX760 card, the does imply UEFIvBIOS is present. The Corsair 750M means your ready for a massive graphic power increase. The only issue is price and card length. Your choice is 10.63 "L  x 4.76  "H  x 2.01  " W Inches.

Thank you very much for your help! Does my current motherboard and CPU limit me in terms of GPU? Can I go for something even better? Also, should I look up the size of my current GPU and try to match that with the size of the new one?

@MM95,

What are the requirements of this AIML program?

Again your limiting my answer, as I do not know the model number of your computer.

The CPU, RAM, GPU all inter-react are variables in performance. Of course an I7 should have better performance, but the computer model specification page will list the CPU chip that is acceptable.

Take a piece of cardboard, and cut it to the length and height of the card.  Now you have the size of the card.

Remove power cord, and open case. Try placing the cardboard along side the existing slot. Would it fit?

Model No: 700-214

CPU: 4th gen i5-4440 @ 3.10 GHz

My current set-up already meets the minimum requirements for most AI/ML models, but the quality and power of the gpu dictates the speed at which the models may run depending on the size of the datasets ( some can be >10 gigs).

Thank you!
