Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my pc Pavilion with a better GPU. But the new GPU needs a better PSU.

Here are the details:

PC: HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx

Old GPU: Radeon RX 580

New GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 ultra

Motherboard: HP 8433

Old PSU: HP 400W ENT18 EPA92

New PSU: Mars Gaming MPIII850 ATX 850W

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0BQ3Y7WDX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1

So i am getting a new case for the pc and upgrading the GPU.

Because the GPU needs a lot of power (550W) i wanted to upgrade my PSU to a 850W one (as above).

Now i've done some research and couldn't find out if that new PSU is compatible with the motherboard.
I am really stuck here so iwould really appreciate if someone could help me out.

Thanks in advance,

Johndee289

@Johndee289,

The "550-watt" mentioned by the graphics card manufacturer is meant to provide just a little extra wattage in case customers use a crappy i.e. low-quality power supply. Trust me, an HP 500-watt L05757-800 power supply will provide ample/sufficient juice for an RTX 2060 Super.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Johndee289,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

There is an HP 500-watt power supply with p/n: L05757-800 which is compatible with your Sunflower motherboard (SSID: 8433). An RTX 2060 can easily be powered by a quality HP 500-watt power supply: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database, so I am not sure why you need an 850-watt power supply.  As you found out, industry standard 24-pin ATX power supplies are not compatible with your motherboard.

An HP 500-watt power supply (p/n: L05757-800) can be purchased online, such as this eBay-Germany example: 500W Power Supply für HP PSU - Envy 795-0003UR Desktop- L05757-800 901759-013 | eBay.

And yes, an RTX 2060 is compatible with your desktop, as this "HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx" (SSID: 8433) User benchmark shows: HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Hope this was helpful.

   Hello again,

Thank you for replying this already helped me so much!

Concerning the power usage of the 2060 ultra, im still pretty unsure.

Because when i read the instructions in the user manual that came with the Graphics card it said,

that the minimum amount that should be used is 550 Watt. So, what do you think i should do?
