My computer has 3GB RAM I am trying to upgrade to 16GB
I purchased through Amazon 2 Crucial 8GB Kits 2x4GB, DDR3L-1600 UDIMM 1.35v CL 11
I used the scan tool on the Crucial website and their support chat, this is the memory that was recommended.
After I installed the memory and booted the computer the light at the light icon by the start button came on (normally does) then the light above the Disc icon blinked twice and then nothing, after a few seconds the fan started running.
I am using the CPU-Z tool to reflect info as the computer is with the original RAM in the computer when I purchased it ( it is a refurbish)
Motherboard
Hewlett Packard model 304Ah
Chipset- Intel Haveendale/Clarksdale Host Bridge
Southbridge - Intel Q57
LPCIO - SCH5327
BIOS
Brand - Hewlett Packard
Version- 786H1 v01.05
Date - 06/09/2010
The memory that is currently installed and working is 3GB
Slot 1 - DDR3 Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz) 1GB Ranks - Single
Slot 3 - DDR3 Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz) 2GB Ranks - Dual
Slots 2&4 are empty
Tried installing just 2 of the new RAM sticks in slots 1 & 3 and they still don't work
One other note when I bought the computer it was running windows 7, windows 10 was offered with purchase so I upgraded.
Oh one other note if i move the RAM sticks even the ones presently working to slots 2 & 4 they don't work.
Sorry if I have over done it with the info, but I have never had this problem before, usually just get the memory recommended, install it and go on bout my business.
Thanks in Advance for any and all help,
Randy,

Manual is here, see page 3-5
2 modules must utilize socket 1 and 3.
No provision for using socket 2 and 4 unless socket 1 and 3 are occupied.
RAM modules are specific to a computer. Just purchasing a generic kit will not work. It needs to be the exact product code specifically noted for your computer model, ie Crucial # CT2347054
This Amazon kit does not work.
HP Envy 8 5010 Tablet

Custom Asus Z97D, I7-4790k, 16GB RAM, WIN10 Pro 64bit, ZOTAC GTX1080 AMP Extreme 3 fan 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Asus PB287 4k monitor, Rosewill Blackhawk case and 750W OCZ PSU.

Thanks for the reply wb 2001 I meant to put the kit # I purchased it's CT2K51264BD160B.
I did get one kit to work installed both memory sticks in slots 1 & 3 restarted the computer while repeatedly pressing Ctrl Alt keys, and a window came up showing there was a reconfiguration and noted the increase in RAM. I hit save, it booted up.
I believe I have two bad sticks from amazon.
when i tried to install them in slots 2 & 4 the computer was not booting, they were a little bent out of the package, also if I use them by themselves in slots 1 & 3 the system will not boot.
I also tried to install the two old sticks (1GB & 2GB) in slots 1 & 3 withe the two 4GB sticks working in slots 1& 3 and the system wouldn't boot, I figure they are just not compatible, or I may have two bad slots.
At least I've got 8GB trying to run CAD programs needed a little more than 3
Thanks for your help
Randy
