OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0014
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have tried to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X which supports the same AM4 slot and is the same 65W usage however, once installed when I boot, it boots for 2 seconds, then shuts down, then boots again ad stays on but I get nothing on the monitor and neither my keyboard or mouse receive power.  When I switch back to the factory 3600 it boots no problem but first says there was a CMOS error.  Then boots fine.

only chance would be a bios update
For information, I don't advise doing it if absolutely no other choice, and provided that it is supposed to solve the problem
if not mentioned in the proposed updates, it is pure chance if it passes

So I am looking at the BIOS options on the website for my PC and it shows version F.22 Rev A as being the latest available BIOS but my current BIOS is F.23.  It will not let me install F.22 because it recognizes it as older.  Is there a way to force the BIOS back to a previous version?

I am also using AMD Ryzen Master and wondered if perhaps there were some settings that either I changed or that need to be changed in order to accept the new CPU.  Looking at the upgrade list, the motherboard should absolutely be capable of handling this chip, it just won't even try.

HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 87C3)

F.23 Rev.A11.5 MBApr 10, 2022Download

- Updates the code for the 2022Q1 security enhancement.

- After this BIOS update has been installed, previous BIOS versions cannot be reinstalled.

well actually if you have the latest version no need to try
