So I have upgraded cpus before without trouble. I bought an i9 14900f as it said my hp 8918 mobo can use it cause it's only 65 pdw or whatever. So when I go to install it, not only does the computer not start up at all (just turns fans on and ram colors for .5 seconds), but when fully screwed down, the cpu doesn't touch the new heatsink, which should fit the mobo. Does anybody have any experience with this? Really disappointed.

It seems like you're having some issues with the CPU upgrade to the Intel Core i9-14900F on your OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC. While the HP 8918 motherboard may support certain 65W processors, the i9-14900F may not be fully compatible.
Here are the compatible processors for the unit:

Intel Core i9-12900F (2.4 GHz base frequency, up to 5.1 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 30 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 24 threads)
