HP 290 G2 Micro tower PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello guys

I have an HP Desktop HP 290 G2 Micro tower PC

with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz processor. I would like to boost the processer speed since it can be boosted up to 4.2GHz.

The problem I have is, there is no Intel Turbo Booster option in the BIOS screen of my computer. Anybody help me with this problem since I need to boost my processor for my intensive softwares that I run on my computer.

I tried another option, I downloaded the Intel Turbo Booster 3.0 application. But when I tried to install it, still it says "ITBM Driver Not Available, Exiting application" .

Please Please help me on this. What can I do?

@daw8,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Did you enable Hyper-Threading and Turbo Mode (TMT) in BIOS, and selected the "High Performance" Power Plan?

Next, have you installed the latest BIOS version (F.47 Rev.A) as seen here: HP 290 G2 Microtower PC Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support?

Next, to ascertain that Turbo Boost Technology (TBT) is actually available on your MT, download and install the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor from here: Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 3.0 Download | TechSpot.

If your desktop is not TBT capable, the following error message displays: "Installation cannot continue because this computer does not have a processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology capability."

Please let me know if this was helpful.

Hello Nonequitur777

I would like to thank you for your response, since I found it very usefull.

As you recommended, I have tried to download the Turbo Booster from Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 3.0 Download | TechSpotbut when I tried to install it, it says "ITBM Driver Not Available, Exiting application" . and I couldn't install it.

how can I get the ITBM driver for my desktop?

Thank you once again for your time and consideration.

@daw8,

You are quite welcome.

I would try this: please download and run Intel's "Drivers and Software" utility program to detect and install the drivers manually from here: Download Intel Drivers and Software.

Maybe this will fix it.  If not, try the steps as outlined here: https://www.techpout.com/fix-itbm-intel-turbo-boost-driver/.

Please skip the part that tries to sell you "Bit Driver Updater" starting from here:

Let me know how this worked out for you.
