I have HP Desktop M01-1040ur. For some unknown reason, such a useful feature as the automatic shutdown of fans when the screen is turned off has disappeared. Previously, when the screen turned off, 2 fans in the system unit immediately turned off, only the PSU cooler continued to work. The screen turned off as follows: I pressed WIN + L, and after 1 minute the display turned off. The same thing happened when the display was turned off with the power button on the system unit, if this action was configured for it in the power settings. Now in both cases the coolers continue to work. How can I return the previous behavior of the fans? Reset BIOS to factory settings, but it did not help. The problem began to be observed simultaneously with the BSOD, which began to occur with every turn on of the computer. After a clean install of Windows 10 instead of 11, the blue screens stopped, but everything remained the same with the fans.

Hi
How to know if my hp desktop is a refurbished product?
You haven't given any news here..
You say "I pressed WIN + L, and after 1 minute the display turned off."
This locks the user account, the computer is not turned off, if the monitor turns off, it is a sleep option..
What options then, because it is possible that the computer continues to work, overheats, and the fans work
"The same thing happened when the display was turned off with the power button on the system unit, if this action was configured for it in the power settings"
So you're still talking about putting the computer to sleep?
Difficult to guide you, without having precise information, on the history of the computer, the parameters before, what has been modified etc ..
You say you had BSODs, what exactly was it?

if the monitor is off, you will not be able to read the temperatures directly @Vald28
but actually try with HWmonitor software
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
open it, and go to standby
when windows open, it will have recorded the temperatures normally

This is not sleep mode. Previously, when I listened to music or watched a YouTube video in which I only cared about what the person was talking about, I simply locked the screen by pressing WIN+L so that the light would not disturb me, but when the screen was off, the music continued to play and the video would play. A minute after the screen was locked, the screen always turned off, and at the same time as the screen turned off, the fans always turned off automatically, while the computer did not go into sleep mode, but continued to work in its normal mode. Turning off the display one minute after the screen is locked is a standard Windows feature. The computer is new, I've only been using it for a few days. The BSODs appeared after I upgraded my computer to Windows 11, but I could not figure out the cause of the blue screens of death.
Automatically turning off the fans at the same time as the screen turns off, I assume, is typical for other HP M01 series computers. I used to have an HP Desktop M01-1002ur and it always had the fans automatically turn off when the screen turned off.

I have run Open Hardware Monitor and HWMonitor but they don't show motherboard temperature. The CPU temperature is always between 25-40℃ i.e. 77-104°F. The same temperature of the processor was always on my old HP Desktop M01-1002ur computer, and its fans always turned off when the screen turned off. I want to emphasize once again that turning off the fan I'm talking about is not in sleep mode, but when the screen just turned off. In Windows, we can turn off the screen even without locking the screen. To do this, we can change the action of the power button in the power options so that pressing the power button turns off the display.

I want to understand that it worked before, at least that the fans, maybe made less noise ..
but if you turn off, just the monitor, as you say, the computer is not in standby, but in operation, it is normal for the fans to start working, to cool the computer, they must not not turn off in general, but operate more or less quickly depending on the temperature!
There you may have a configuration to check, in hp software , (do you have specific hp software? )
just a less intensive use of the video card, since no information sent to the screen, apart from that..
Moreover, this model has just the integrated, no graphics card?
https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c07637533
it is new, no dust visibly?
Is it in a well-ventilated place, not locked up?

Step 4: Determine which fan is making the noise

The motherboard, whatever, not what must be the hottest
the processor seems correct indeed

yes, I can see fine, so it just turns off the screen, not the computer..
So you should be able to check speed and temperature at this time, I would have to test too!
[edit]
Test with few things open
the fans, before and after turning off both monitors with their power buttons
little difference, no noise
gpu temperature, and speed little change
I will need more time for other tests

Moreover, this model has just the integrated, no graphics card? When the screen was turned off, the fans stopped completely. This could be seen if I look inside the computer through the ventilation slots. I observed this behavior of the fans on two HP computers immediately after purchase. Therefore, I think that such functionality was provided by the manufacturer. This model has the integrated graphics. The computer is new, there is no dust inside, the computer is on the table, where it has air access. My only guess as to why the fans stopped turning off when the screen turned off is a BIOS update. Just the day I noticed this change in my computer, I updated the BIOS.

"Just the day I noticed this change in my computer, I updated the BIOS."
I edited my previous answer, but here's some information I think is important that I didn't have..
And precisely, there may have been a problem, because the complete stopping of the fans, does not seem to me a good thing, it may be fixed with this update precisely
difficult to compare because not the same model
