Sorry if I'm only supposed to put questions here.
This is just an update on my previous posts about an NVIDIA GTX 1050 TI not working on my Pavilion h8-1120 due to a Legacy BIOS problem, and my post asking if a Radeon R9 290 would work on my machine. Well turns out it does! Specifically the SAPPHIRE Tri-X R9 290X 4G D5. Bought one off Ebay for $120. Definitely a tight fit for sure, but it works! Gives much better performance than my ancient NVIDIA GT 530.
Though, for anyone reading this in the future looking to get this card with a similar motherboard I recommend watching out for your RAM slots, as the card did push down on my trigger thingy (?) which releases the RAM slots because the trigger wasn't pushed in all the way (it's kind of hard to explain). This caused me to get a series of beeps and yellow lights (five in specific) upon powering on my PC until I put my RAM slots back in correctly. Also remember to put those PCI-E slots in! Check if your power supply comes with them as some don't, and make sure you're using the correct amount of wattage with your PSU to run it (I use an EVGA 500W). After solving my RAM problem, I had forgot to put the PCI-E slots back in so my monitor wasn't detecting my GPU. It was a good hour filled with much stress and anxiety but here I am!
Thanks to all the members on the HP forums that helped me out!! Specifically @Old_geekster and @Grzwacz (apparently I can't tag you specifically but I do appreciate all the help!). This community has been great in giving me fast and detailed responses, kudos to you all!
