Hello Community;
I have an HP Compaq dc5800 SFF PC with an OS of Windows 10 home ( 64 bit ). I have a program installed on my PC and in this program I can make entry's, operation settings, then I can transfer the information by a USB cable to an external puce of equipment by the program setting of " SEND DATA TO RADIO : an error message pops up and says " INVALID COM PORT ".
I went to DEVICE MANAGER " clicked on " PORTS ( COM & LPT ) which shows the com port that my external equipment is on which is ( COM 4 ) but when i try to transfer from the program the error says " INVALID COM PORT "..
I also checked for settings where I could select different com ports, but, found no other com port selections
It appears, that my PC is not recognizing my external Ham Radio to receive the new information that I have entered into the program
I hope that someone can pinpoint me in the direction to resolve this problem.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-dc5800-microtower-pc/3658081/document/c01358056#AbT0
It has 10 USB 2.0 ports ( (two front, six rear, two internal USB header)) no real COM port. How (which cable) do you connect comouter and device ?
Regards.

Hello Bannien, Thank you for the response and the information which is very helpful. When I went into DEVICE MANAGER and checked into all of the tabs in the settings pages I got the following message.
" DEVICE USB\VID_26AA&PID_001B\000000000000 REQUIRES FURTHER INSTALLATION "
it appears that this device driver did not install completely, I clicked on the UPDATE DRIVER that was present but the return message was that the existing driver is the latest edition. What is the fix for getting this device driver INSTALLED completely ??. or where can I find the instructions for getting this driver to completely install.
Thanks for any information.
