Hello,

I have HP 290 G2 Microtower PC free DOS but need to enable TPM on it.

Can any one please provide me the PROCEDURE to enable TPM with this PC.
I have checked in the BIOS and TPM not installed there.

Any help would be highly appreciated

Hi:

Below is the link to the HP Quickspecs for your PC.

The note on page 3 indicates that the TPM feature will not be supported on machines pre-configured with FreeDOS.

Thanks for your update and respond but the information indicated machines pre-configured with Windows OS might ship with TPM turned off. I feel there should be a way to turn it ON

You're very welcome.

The document clearly states...that the TPM feature will not be supported on machines pre-configured with FreeDOS, which is what you indicated your PC came with.

The TPM is normally called a Security Device and normally found in the BIOS's security menu.

O my HP 8200 Elite CMT the security device (TPM) setting is hidden or enabled.

If you do not see a security device setting or a TPM setting, then your PC is lacking the TPM.

actually for most business systems, HP simply disables the TPM through the "Feature Byte" string IE- the motherboard will have the TPM chip installed but the system will not see/use it

this feature byte is a section in the Bios code that is configured by HP (or a user with a new MB) that determines the board feature set

it's a ONE TIME USE and cannot be reset/changed by the service rep or user once set it's forever

only HP has the tool to reset the feature byte string, and it's most definitely not available outside HP itself............................
