HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0023w
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi - I am trying to update my BIOS (when I run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows it says there is an update available but it fails when I try to update it).

I suspect it might have something to do with me being on Windows 11 - when looking at the support page, the only options are for Windows 10 (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-tg01-0000a/model/37933892?sku=6YR...).

Does anyone know if there is a way for me to update my BIOS to the latest version while still staying in Windows 11? Any help would be appreciated.

Please run the HP Support assistant, click on "Device Specifications" and look for the system board number

Unless I am mistaken, It should be one of the following three

8643, 8653, 8767

The update BIOS for your system will be one of the following, if any

Did the HP Support assistant ask you to update the BIOS?  The latest support assistant can be downloaded here.

Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.

Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade

Appreciate the quick response

After hitting Device Specifications - system board is 8643 SMVB and system BIOS is F.46.

Support Assistant did not prompt me to update my BIOS.

Given your comments below, maybe it is best if I don't update my BIOS

It looks like there's a new bios version for that board, which I have also. F.47
