HP ENVY 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c1000 (4G584AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have the HP 915 keyboard and mouse that came with my HP Envy 34 inch all in one. The keyboard and mouse have started, to act up, and don't work reliably. I purchased a new hp 915 keyboard and mouse combo, and when I put batteries into the keyboard, the caps lock light powers on, but doesn't do anything else. There is no pairing button either.

How do I pair this new keyboard with my current PC since it is not the original keyboard that came with the PC out of the box? Thanks!

Hi @Sholliber,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding keyboard and mouse!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try the following steps:

Check Batteries

  • Ensure the keyboard and mouse have fresh batteries installed correctly.

Use the Correct USB Receiver

  • The HP 915 combo uses a USB wireless receiver (dongle).
  • Plug the new receiver (that came with the new combo) into a USB port on your PC.

Restart Your PC

  • Unplug the receiver, restart your PC, then plug it back in.

Test Different USB Ports

  • Try plugging the receiver into a different USB port (preferably a USB 2.0 port).

Reinstall Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  • Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your HP 915 devices and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your PC and let Windows reinstall the drivers.

Re-Pair the Devices

  • Some models auto-pair with the new receiver, but if they don't, try:
    • Turn off and on the keyboard and mouse.
    • Press any key on the keyboard to check if it responds.

Check for Interference

  • Keep the keyboard and mouse closer to the receiver.
  • Remove other wireless devices nearby that may cause interference.

If it still doesn’t work, the new combo might not be compatible with your PC’s built-in receiver, and you’ll need to use the new USB dongle that came with it. 🚀

I appreciate your help but this did not solve the issue. The 915 wireless mouse & keyboard combo does not have a USB dongle. It is supposed to connect automatically out of the box.

Hi @Sholliber

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating that your new HP 915 wireless keyboard and mouse combo isn't working properly with your HP Envy All-In-One. Let’s walk through a few steps that might help you get everything connected and functioning correctly.

Here’s a troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the issue:

1. Check the Receiver Connection

  • Verify the USB Receiver: The HP 915 combo should come with a USB receiver that connects the keyboard and mouse to your computer wirelessly. Ensure the receiver is securely plugged into an available USB port on your HP Envy All-In-One.
  • If you have other USB ports available, try plugging the receiver into a different port. Sometimes, USB ports can have issues or conflicts with certain devices.

2. Replace or Recheck the Batteries

  • Double-check that the batteries in both the keyboard and mouse are inserted correctly.
  • Ensure that you're using fresh batteries, and they are installed in the correct orientation (positive and negative sides match).

3. Reboot the Computer

  • Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connection issues. After ensuring the receiver is plugged in and the batteries are good, restart your computer and see if that resolves the issue.

4. Check the Keyboard and Mouse

  • Keyboard: For the keyboard, you mentioned the Caps Lock light comes on but it doesn’t do anything else. If this happens, there might be a communication issue. Try pressing different keys and see if anything responds (for example, the Num Lock or Scroll Lock keys).
  • Mouse: Check if the mouse is getting power by turning it on or off (if it has a power switch) and see if the red laser or optical sensor is active.

I hope this helps.
