Hi, I'm new to the forum and still relatively new with PC tinkering with only a handful of years of experience messing with them. I listed my product as one I don't own but I do, infact, own an HP ENVY 700-414. I got one as of recent from a friend as he upgraded his own PC. The current specs I have on it, with some upgrades:

-Intel i5 4570
-16gb DDR3 @ 1600mhz
-RX 5500XT
-256Gb SSD
-1TB HDD

The last thing I've been trying to upgrade is the CPU and I bought an i7 4790k and thought it would work out of the box but to no avail. My thoughts immediately looked toward the BIOS version, and its landed on AMI 80.19 with the date being 07/18/2014. I've been looking around on Google and the "latest version" for HP ENVY 700-414 was released around 2016-2017. Since its been a handful of years, I can't really get drivers from the support page due to the PC being unsupported/retired. I was wondering if there's any other possible way for me to somehow get the drivers or somehow update it through a software so I can upgrade the CPU.

Hi:

Below is the link to the parts list for your PC.

HP PartSurfer

According to the parts list, it comes with a HP 'Memphis-B' motherboard.

The information I could find on that motherboard indicates that it has a BIOS SSID of 2AF7.

If that info is correct, below are the info and exe file links to the latest BIOS update I could find for that SSID (80.23):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76898.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76898.exe

Before updating the BIOS, confirm that your PC does have a motherboard with the 2AF7 SSID.

You can find your PC motherboard's SSID by:

In the search feature on the Windows taskbar:

Type: System Information

Run the app and look for the Baseboard Product line about 1/3 of the way down on the report.

The baseboard product info is the same as the motherboard SSID.
