Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded my system from a i3 3220 to a i5 2500k cpu on a lga 1155 socket mobo, but it says that cpu not support even tho it is compatible why is that?

Without the complete model number, it is not possible to tell if that CPU is supported or not.

Please post the complete model number of the PC so I can see what CPU's are supported by the motherboard.

The statement "even tho it is compatible" is probably not true.  If you made the assumption that because the CPU's use the same socket, that is only one parameter that has to met.
