FYI I have the same issue, and only bought the PC yesterday. Worse, after installing the latest BIOS update, it DOUBLED the amount of RAM reserved for integrated graphics (from 1GB to 2GB). Worse still, it won't allow the BIOS to be rolled back.

So I am stuck with a 6GB PC, which was advertised as 8GB, and cannot use the 2GB that is reserved for integrated graphics--and the integrated graphics HDMI port is even blocked off from use.

I was going to add another 8GB to get 16GB, but if I can't get the 2GB back that is being held hostage by the integrated graphics, I guess I will have to return this PC. As of now 25% of the RAM I paid for cannot be used.

I bought this PC, advertised as "VR Ready" specifically for VR (Rift). This PC is also advertised as  having "8GB RAM."

Upon booting the PC I could see the integrated graphics adapter (Vega) was consuming 1GB of system RAM, this despite the fact that this adapter is supposed to be disabled (indeed its HDMI port is closed off with tamper-proof screws). After updating the PC's BIOS, via HP Support Assistant, the amount of RAM claimed by the integrated graphics adapter doubled to 2GB. Morever, it is not possible to roll the BIOS back to the version that only claimed 1GB. Now I have, essentially, an 6GB PC--there is no way to use that missing 2 GB. Oh, none of the BIOS versions allowed changing the integrated graphics RAM amount, or turning it off altogether (as is common on many BIOS's).

I want to reclaim the RAM taken by the integrated graphics adapter (keep in mind this PC contains a Radean 580 graphics card, so don't need integrated graphics. Even if I add another 8GB RAM, I still only have a 14GB PC.

How can this be fixed?

Michael
