HP Pavilion P6 2037 cb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an old PC I use to store movies and wish to connect it to my Samsung 4K LED TV via HDMI (2.0).  I wish to have the best resolution I can manage within the confines of my PC.  I don't use the PC for any other purposes.  I'm very confused about which graphics card will work for both the TV and the PC.  All the message boards I pick up on are several years old and the parts they mention appear to be pretty dated.  🙂

This particular PC has 4GB RAM, 1TB, 64bt OS with Windows 10, power is 300 W.

I'm looking first for an affordable option  under $200 without having to upgrade the power supply.  But any advice is appreciated.

Hi pookystew,

have you considered a GT 1030? If I am doing the power consumption math correctly your machine uses about 150-175w currently. The GT 1030 (while gaming) generally doesn’t use more than 40w. It does suggest a 300w psu as well according to Nividia website.

shows it should have a x16 slot

The card has a HDMI 2.0b so should have 4k and 3D support

The MSI card averages about $100 as well

@Pookystew,

When you suggest low power (not willing to upgrade the PSU) you handicap answers.

The ASUS GT 640 DDR5 1GB would work, but you can not find the card.  Get my point ?

Yeah, I understand that it does limit the options.  But I just wanted to see if it was possible.  😉
