Hello ALL,
I have the above computer with BIOS Version/Date: AMI 7.15, 7/2/2012
I would like to update the BIOS to version 8.21 rev.A, 1/5/2015 so that I can run a NVIDIA GTX1050Ti graphics card.
My question is:
Is there something I should know before downloading and updating the BIOS?
It also tells me to download Install Assistant as well. Not sure what this does.
Can someone shed some light on how I am to do this upgrade?
THANKS.............

@Manny8922 , welcome back to the forum.
I am not certain where you found version 8.21 rev.A, 1/5/2015. HP no longer furnishes software and driver updates for your computer. If this BIOS update was not specifically developed for your computer, there is a chance that it will brick the motherboard. I definitely don't recommend installing it if you are not certain that it is for your exact motherboard. HP uses their motherboards in many different models with different specifications.

Hello,
My goal is to install the NVIDIA GTX1050Ti. I was told that I needed version 8 for it to run.
I was able to find it at the following link, please see link:

Thank you for the additional information, @Manny8922!
I believe that they suggest installing HP Support Assistant so you can assure that your software and drivers are up to date. This should be done before updating the BIOS. Here is the full information on the BIOS update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-hpe-h8-1300-desktop-pc-series...
Read each section carefully to assure that you do everything correctly. A failed BIOS update can't be fixed.
I am not certain that the BIOS update will make your motherboard compatible with the GTX 1050 Ti. It requires UEFI in the motherboard, not a standard/Legacy BIOS: https://www.howtogeek.com/175649/what-you-need-to-know-about-using-uefi-instead-of-the-bios/ . You should choose a video card manufacturer and contact their Tech Support to make certain if it will be compatible. Some cards have a switch that will allow them to work with either UEFI or Legacy BIOS.
