hi,
I know this is an odd question, but is it possible to change my Workstation CPU from an Intel Xeon W2104 to an Intel Core i9 10900X ?

Here is the spec page for that PC
https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c06956073.pdf
You will see that the Intel® Core™ i9-10900X (3.7 GHz base frequency, up to 4.7 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 19.25 MB L3 cache, 10 cores) is listed - top of the list

I'm having the same issue. I have a Skylake X not a Skylake W, with a Xeon CPU. I just ordered a less expensive i9 7900x to test out the chipset to see if it's just a Xeon chipset driver installed over the x299. If I have a Skylake X with a Xeon chipset I'll have to sell the X series CPU to resale. I also found out the ram I ordered isn't Udimm non-ecc I guess DDR4 was updated and the 7900x is not compatible with the new ddr4 ram? I'll see in a few days or a week when I install. In the end I will be buying a motherboard and parts for the ram I just ordered.
