Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I noticed in another thread that it was recommended to upgrade to the Skylake 6th gen core i7-6700 CPU (65w), just wondering though, will the stock heatsink be enough for this CPU?. Currently it has the core i5-6500 CPU. I found the manual here, and that thread I was talking about is here. I think I have found the CPU to upgrade to... here, will this work 100%?. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi:

According to the HP specs for the model series that I have attached below, the i7-6700 65W processor is supported.

You can use the same heat sink you are using now as there were no other heat sinks offered.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two processors:

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

As you can see, they have the same wattage and use the same thermal solution (heat sink).
