OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-181nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I am underway to upgrade the GTX1080 of my omen 880-181 nf . I saw in different places on the WEB that a ASUS RTX 3060 TUF would be fine. I am wondering if the Bios of my motherboard will really recognize this card? I updated the Bios to the version ( F.56 from Oct 2022).

I changed the PSU  too and installed a Corsair RM850x. The dimension should be OK of the RTX . This card is +/- 2 cm longer than the GTX1080.

My objectif is to run smoothly MSFS 2020 or MSFS2024.

Would do you think?  Do you see any other concerns?

Thanks

Hi @Hundel

I don't see any problem there are models that use the Tampa2 motherboard with RTX 2080 there is not much difference, if you have a power supply that supplies the necessary watts.

Hi Resistencia.

Tanks for your reply.

My PSU will be more than sufficient (850 Watts ). The RTX 2000 series are on PCIe 3.0 and the the RTX 3000 series on PCIe 4.0.

Theoretical this should not be a problem, but who knows.... I will avoid to have the RTX3060 TUF with a black screen.

Any ideas ?

with an 850 watt power supply you should have no problems the higher PCIe versions are always compatible with the lower ones.
