Microsoft Windows 11

Good morning,

Unfortunately, the integrated graphics card isn't cutting it anymore and I would like to upgrade either the GPU and/or the power supply on my TP01-3050 and am unsure if that's even possible with the 310W power supply that comes with the desktop.

I just don't know where to start.

Thank you!

@mrosen48,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Your HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-3050 PC (577D6AA) as fitted with a Reno motherboard (SSID: 89B5) and a 310-watt power supply (p/n: L10875-800), I would recommend upgrading to a 500-watt power supply with p/n: L81009-800, which you can buy online, such as this purchase example via an eBay Seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/196033406584?itmmeta=01HYK152GFAZVYT9ZFWKFC10C5&hash=item2da4806678%3Ag%3AC....

With this power supply, you'll have ample options to consider powering any number of very capable graphics cards, based on your budget and (gaming?) expectations.  Let me know if you would like to me to suggest some GPUs.

Kind Regards,

I would love the GPU suggestions. Money is not an issue (I'm thinking about the 6600).

Thank you again

@mrosen48,

With a 500-watt power supply, I would recommend a Nvidia card.  Given the RX 6600 graphics card performance setpoint, I would recommend a smaller-sized (two fan) RTX 3060 12GB model powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this purchase option, or a smaller-sized (two fan) RTX 4060 model, such as this purchase option.

Given the two options, I would go for the smaller-sized RTX 4060, which is currently priced very competitively.  The graphics card performance/numbers crushing capability of the RTX 4060 compared with an RX 6600 is significantly better: UserBenchmark: AMD RX 6600 vs Nvidia RTX 4060.

Kind Regards,
