Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF with Intel Core i7-6700 installed, I would like to upgrade the graphics and while doing my research I came accross with Radeon™ RX 6400 D6 LOW PROFILE 4G who seems to be the most afordable option for me, is it possible install this graphic card without changing the 200w PSU installed?

I can´t afford any more expenses just the GPU

Thanks in advance!

The RX 6400's TDP is listed at 53 watt and your i7-6700's TDP is listed at 65 watt.  If you got the "92% efficient" 200-watt power supply with part number: 796419-001 (please check), which gives you 184-watt nominal, which provides about 66 watt to meet the power requirements for the rest of your desktop.  If you got the "85% efficient" power supply, which can only provide 170 watt -that's only 52 watt left...

Meaning, you're cutting it way close.  However, being the optimist that I am, it should work in my opinion. If you were to spend just a few more dollars, you should look into upgrading to a 240-watt power supply, with p/n: 702307-002 / 702307-001 / 751884-001 / 702455-001, which should give you a bit more juice for your system. This power supply can be purchased inexpensively -at least in the US, such as this $12.99 eBay-US purchase example: HP 600 800 G1 G2 Z230 SFF Power Supply 240W 702455-001 702457-001 -751886-001 | eBay.

Hope this was helpful.

Hello!

Thanks for your reply, I have the 200w PSU 92% efficient, I'll take a look on the power supplies you recommend as it is a little difficult for me getting ahold one of them as I'm outside the US, but just like you I'm optimistic as well and I hope everything's run smoothly.

Thanks a lot!

@Eng3l,

You are welcome, and good luck!

Let us know how things went after you installed the RX 6400.

Btw, I would make sure that Windows on your desktop is as updated as possible, and pre-download the RX 6400 driver from here: AMD Radeon™ RX 6400 Drivers & Support | AMD: choose the correct Windows version. Don't install this driver until you got the RX 6400 snapped in your PC.

Hey there! For sure I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks for the heads up about the drivers, I was thinking on to install first the drivers so your advice comes in handy! I've just ordered the GPU, once everything is set up I will let you know how everything went!

Thanks again and kind regards!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to follow up on this subject:

So I bought and install the sapphire RX 6400 4gb, I didn't change the PSU that came with the Elite Desk 800 G2 SFF (the one with 200w platinum certified)

And let me tell you that everything is up and running, according to amd software my GPU is only taking 35w during gaming at the most and just 9w for normal usage PC.

A little bit of loss on performance because the card is PCIe 4.0 and I used the 3.0 slot but nothing too awful to be honest.

Thank you all and have a nice a beautiful Christmas!
