Hello, i want to upgrade my computer and i found out this motherboard or chipset is compatible with a few processors of 7th gen e.g. i7 7700K. I want to know if this is true. What about power consumption. What about and added GPU. Thanks.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
Your HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower is not compatible with 7th gen Intel processors, even though its Q170 chipset would theoretically allow it, HP blocked that compatibility.
Your PC only supports Intel's 6th gen core processors, an i7-6700K being the best possible option.
With a 280-watt power supply, you could power an RX 6400, GTX 1050 Ti, or a GTX 1650.
Incidentally, there is a 400-watt power supply which is compatible with your desktop and is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable, with p/n: 796416-001. With this 400-watt power supply, you could power, for example a smaller-sized (two-fan) RTX 4060 model, powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this purchase option.
Kind Regards,
