Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 750-411 with Intel Core i5-6400 CPU, 8 GB DDR4 ram, Radeon RX480 graphics card, and a 1 TB HHD. I'd like to upgrade the hard drive/s. Can I upgrade to a 500GB SSD 2.5 drive? Also is it possible to add in 2 6TB SATA drives if I remove the optical drive? This unit has a 500 watt power supply. Will that need to be upgraded? Goal here is to create a dedicated media server for something like PLEX.

Your HP ENVY Desktop - 750-411 PC (X6G21AA) as fitted with an Odense2-S motherboard (SSID: 828A) supports 6th gen Intel Core processors up to 95-watt TDP.

Even though its H170 Intel chipset supports 7th gen Intel processors, HP has not signed off on that.

My processor upgrade recommendation would be either an i7-6700 (4-Cores, 8-Threads, 3.40 GHz up to 4.00 GHz, 65-watt TDP) or the i7-6700K (4-Cores, 8-Threads, 4.00 GHz up to 4.20 GHz, 91-watt TDP).

A good minimum GPU option for a dedicated PLEX media server as it needs a mid-range graphics card with support for hardware acceleration, would be a GTX 1050 or equivalent, as it can significantly improve transcoding performance.

You got three (2) SATA data ports on your motherboard ("SATA0, SATA1, SATA2"), assuming you already got one SATA drive hooked up to your desktop plus an optical drive, you will have one open SATA data port available for an additional (storage) drive:

And yes, two 6GB SATA drives would be compatible with your PC.
