Trying to upgrade from 4 to 8 mb and have tried using video presentations however the memory in tis machine is not attached by the retaining clips. It appears to be connected to a female receptacle that is connected to a cable. Any ideas gentleman and ladies?

Below is the picture of the motherboard your PC has.

The memory goes into the slots pictured in the upper right quadrant of the motherboard.
I have no idea what you are looking at, but it sounds to me like you are looking at where the wifi adapter is connected.
Below is the link to the upgrading and servicing guide for your PC where you can find the memory R & R procedure.
