Hi I have a HP290 G4 Microtower PC.
I am looking to upgrade the graphics card to a ASUS GT1030-2G-BRK, this card requires a 300W PSU.
The existing PSU is a 180W HK280-85pp L70042-006/
It looks like the PSU and Motherboard are not standard so I wondered if there is a specific HP PSU that is available for purchase?

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
First the good news: your HP 290 G4 MicroTower PC (64J80EA), according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06520280.pdf, and especially: https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/c06590421.pdf, inform us that in addition to the 180-watt HP p/n: L89235-001 power supply ("SKO-PSU 180W ENT20 EPA90 (Gold)"), there are two additional power supplies available for this desktop:
To the best of my ability, I traced the part numbers for these power supplies:
The HP p/n for the 310-watt power supply is: 901772-003
[EDIT:] The HP p/n for the 500-watt power supply is: L08262-003 ** YET TO BE DETERMINED **
@Colololololor, All I could find, is this possibly compatible 400-watt power supply with HP p/n: L76557-001 / L04618-800 ("Power Supply - MT, 400W CDT20, 90% EFF, 12V 3OUT"). Has the same dimensions as your 180-watt HP p/n: L70042-006 power supply: 165mm x 75mm x 95mm (LxWxH), AND THE "P2" connector appears to be compatible.
The "bad" news: you'll have to ascertain how to purchase either power supply online in Ireland from an available eCommerce site.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
NonSequitur777

hi
The HP p/n for the 500-watt power supply is: L08262-003
curious, because the reference, here mentions, sometimes a model for Hp 280, not the problem, but being only 300w
but also be careful, I had also seen this document, and just like the other, there are indications, in relation to the countries, to see if a model will work well in the country in question!
17. All power supplies are not available in every region
This system uses an active power factor-corrected power supply. This allows the system to pass the CE mark requirements for use in
the countries of the European Union. The active power factor-corrected power supply also has the added beneƭt of not requiring an
input voltage range select switch.

Thanks very much to both of you 👍
Unfortunately I am having trouble sourcing the PSUs locally.
The reason behind the Graphics Card upgrade is that I have a new monitor (Asus BE27 ACSBK), connected via the HDMI and have extended the old monitor (ThinkVision T22i-20) using the VGA for now.
Ultimately, at the very least, I am trying to have at least x2 HDMI or x2 Display Port connectors as the VGA connection is not very clear.
The GT1030-2G-BRK appears to have a power draw of about 30W; I picked this card as it is at least faster than the Intel® UHD Graphics 630 on board the i5 10500.
Other alternative cards seemed to have the same 30W power draw, but performed slower than the UHD Graphics 630 on the CPU.
I was also wondering if I added a PCI card with a Type C USB port could I then use a Type C hub with HDMI and effectively add a HDMI port there?

Yes, that's what I understood, it seems that some parts are not available everywhere
Just as it is mentioned 3 type of power, but that most, we will only find the 180w in reference in the HP shares
I tried searching the list a bit more but eventually gave up because each time it was just 180w
That said, if you just need a graphics card for two screens, and not for intensive use, you should be able to find a small model that is not very powerful.
but you have to find the connectors you need
For usb c I can't answer, it seems sometimes it doesn't work either
I know that here it has already been mentioned that a gt 1030, works with a 180w, if the computer is not pushed, in game for example, it can be fine
otherwise there is also the gt 710
[edit] try this one

Hi, I thought I would provide a quick update.
I installed a 'Startech 2-Port USB 3.1 Card - 10Gbps per port - USB-C, USB-A':
I tried using a Acer Type C hub that had a HDMI port. Unfortunately this did not work.
I also tried using a 'Startech Type C to Display Port Adapter' and this also did not work.
So eventually I took a gamble and ordered a Gigabyte GT 1030 D4 2G and it's working great (this is a DDR4 model).

no, this system uses a very new power supply standard
your HP power supply only outputs 12v DC and the motherboard itself has the necessary parts to regulate this 12v dc to the 5v/3.3 volts the system requires and is only available currently in the 180 watt and 310 watt variants
there is no 500 watt unit available from HP currently in this 12v only power supply
currently only a few computers use this setup, but it may become more common as it has several benefits that range from lower power supply failures and cheaper to make power supplies to name two benefits
