Hello,
I need help with changing the PSU on an HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT to a standard SFX PSU.
Since it its proprietary, I can only conclude as below:
PSU 4 pins CPU to Mobo 4 pins CPU P3
PSU 4 pins CPU to Mobo 4 pins Mobo P1 ( They have the same shape as normal CPU 4 pins)
The Problem is P2 on the motherboard which has these small 7 pins
I opened the PSU to find it actually shows the pinouts as below
Now how do I use a standard psu (24 pins) to adapt to the 7 pins? I am no expert at these wiring.
My aim is to find a way to use a standard SFX PSU instead of the proprietary PSU.
I'll be printing a custom adapter to fit the SFX psu into the case but I need to figure out first how to connect the PSU to the motherboard.
I found another thread where a user in this forum by the name @NonSequitur777 has gone quite deep in the mods for this model. However, I do not find or yet to find anyone doing a PSU swap for it.
It would be great pleasure if someone has some insight as what should I do to accomplish it. If succeed, I'll share the 3d file for the adapter (will do once the PSU adapter can be done).
Any inputs and advise are really welcomed and thanks in advance. 🙂

Welcome to our HP community forum!
An HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT was one of my legacy/vintage upgrade projects, and to make a long story short, I upgraded my power supply with this 400-watt unit, with p/n: 942332-001, which is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable.
The HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT only accepts proprietary HP power supplies, and there are no ATX power adapters for this PC as far as I know. To be honest, I wouldn't even try to make an ATX power supply work with your desktop.
According to this link, it appears that you could upgrade your power supply with a 500-watt unit, with p/n: L05757-800, which is equipped with one 6+2-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power cables:
With a 400-watt power supply you could upgrade your desktop with a smaller-sized (two-fan) RTX 4060 model powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this example: ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 V2 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database, and with a 500-watt power supply, you could power a smaller-sized RTX 4060 TI model, such as this example: ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 Ti OC Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.
Both power supplies can be purchased online, such as via AliExpress or other online eCommerce sites.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,

Dear NonSequitur777
Thank you for your kind suggestions for the PSU & GPU.
Although my objective was trying to create an adapter, I guess some other model was made an adapter because it was possible but this wasn't for some reasons.
Best regards,
Farest
