I would like to upgrade my system by adding a graphics card. My computer only has a 180W Power Supply, so I'm thinking I'll need to upgrade this as well. Does Dell sell higher watt PSUs, or does anyone know where else I can find a higher powered PSU that will fit in this case and be compatible with my motherboard (843f)?

The Graphics Card I intend to install is the NVIDIA GeForce 1030.

Thanks in advance!

@caryjony,
Turn off the computer. Unplug Power cord. Remove side panel. Look at Motherboard.  Please verify the circle item  in RED exists. If it does have a PCIEx16 slot, your good to install that GT 1030 upto the 30W version.  Let's end this !!  Who is right ??

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

To get the answer to this question, there are no Expansion Slots for a graphics upgrade,

(An graphics upgrade is not possible)

Click here to know more about motherboard specifications.

NOTE: HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@caryjony,

That motherboard does have a PCIEx16 GPU card slot.

The real problem is the proprietary 180W PSU cabling.

It uses two 2x2 for the Main and CPUpower,  plus a 7 pin inline for the fan power.

Thank you @Wb2001. The graphics card that I planned on installing, GeForce GT 1030, draws its power from the motherboard and would not need any additional cables connected from the power supply. Even with this being the case, do you think I'm still out of luck on the ability to install the graphics card? Do they make any higher wattage PSUs with this proprietary cabling?

Also, in my research, I've seen some say that this graphics card draws no more power than the Intel integrated graphics. Is there a chance I can just plug this in with the existing 180W PSU and be fine?

Thanks in advance!

@Echo_Lake Thank you for your response. There is an expansion slot that does fit a graphics card on my motherboard. Are you meaning to say that this slot exists but that it does not accept a graphics card?

Thanks for your help!
