Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I changed the dual core processor E2220 to 2 quad core Q9400 on HP Pavilion G3635 d Home PC.

My PC has upgrade ram 4gb ,Nvidia 1gb  OS Win 10 and no problem.

 Can it?

 Because it appears

 ERROR : unsupported CPU installed

PC Will automatically power down in a view minutes

 Which processor upgrade is suitable?

Hi:

HP has retired all support for your PC since it is more than 10 years old.

I did find this discussion pertaining to a PC with the same motherboard as yours, and someone had posted what the specs were before HP removed the motherboard specs link.

MS 7525 (Boston) Compatibility Issue | Tom's Hardware Forum (tomshardware.com)

The bottom line is the Q9400 processor you installed is not supported.

According to the folks that replied to the above discussion, it appears you can upgrade to the Pentium E8500 since that one person stated they installed both an E8400 and E8500 processor in the motherboard.

Here is the link to the latest BIOS update I could find.

HP Pavilion g3635d BIOS (driverscollection.com)

The only problem is...the update was written to be run on Windows Vista and I have no idea what will happen if you run it on Windows 10.

It may work fine, or it may destroy your PC.

I suspect you need a bios upgrade.  The latest is 5.22

Note that it is aways dangerous to flash a new bios.
