HP Pavilion a1228d
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi! I want to speed up my old HP Pavilion a1228d desktop so I can use it for online tutoring via Skype. Have upgraded the memory cards a long time ago.

Now would like to step up some more by adding a graphics (video) card into one of the PCI expansion slots of the motherboard (MSI MS-7174HP [Compaq name: Graphite-GL8E] with integrated GMA 900 Graphics of up to 128MB dynamic video memory).

What are the chances of this idea working, and if it is a plausible one, what would the specs for this kind of graphics card be like? I don't have enough budget to buy another computer at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Your PC is so old that it barely shows up on any of the HP support servers.  Save your money and buy a new PC.

However, it's possible to install an older graphics card into the PCI-e version 1 slot and make it work.
