HP PRODESK 600 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have acquired a Hp prodesk 600 G2

I am looking at the options on upgrades

The CPU seems to support I5 6500 and I7 6700 which is good but I am wondering if its Possible to use a Intel I3 9100

This would give me a decent enough performance increase without going over the TDP value as I have ordered a Radeon RX 550 4gb card.

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-Intel-Core-i3-9100F/3503vs4054

testing my system the CPU (i3 9100) comes up as incompatible but I think that may be the lack of onboard GFX which will not matter once the RX 550 is fitted.

Keeping the power down on the CPU is more important than having a I7 6700 at 91W

Failing that I will have to look for a I5 6500 or such at 65W

Thanks

Thank you for the additional information, @MAPDNX.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  On Page 57, is a list of compatible processors.  These are the processors that have been fully tested to assure they will work with the motherboard.  Any other processors will not guaranteed to work.  I believe that the i3-9100 may be too new to be compatible.  It was released the Q2'19.  The i7-6700 would most likely be your best option.

@MAPDNX , welcome to the forum.

Is your computer a mini-PC, Small Form Factor or Tower?

Oh it's a SFF with 220/200W psu

I upgraded it to 8gb from 4gb and put the OS on a hyper x ssd 120gb drive.

It runs quite well for what it is.

Just the Cpu options?

Thanks
