My motherboard (l56021-605 win) is not working correctly. The LAN isn't being recognized and the front 4 USB ports and USB- C are not working either. However the audio and media slot on front does work. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and 64GB RAM. I would like to replace the motherboard with something that fits. But also that is forward thinking in that I can upgrade the CPU in the future.

In your case, that is to say if I had your desktop with a faulty AMD motherboard, I would most likely buy a replacement p/n: L56021-605 motherboard, such as this eBay purchase option from a trusted Seller.
Yes, I would recommend saving up until you can purchase an Intel based processor (8th gen or higher) gaming desktop.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
My recommendation is to replace your Erica6 motherboard (p/n: L56021-605) with a working Erica6 motherboard as offered via eBay.
Reason I am saying this is because in many cases, replacing the original motherboard with a different motherboard comes with issues, such as the not-quite correct lining-up of the motherboard and/or the CPU heatsink attachment screws onto the chassis. There is a very similar looking motherboard that appears to fit in an HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01 system, the Baker motherboard (SSID: 8767) with p/n: L75365-601, which can be fitted with a forward-looking processor such as the Intel i7-10700:
For example, I can't tell, specifically, if the Baker motherboard's CPU socket/heatsink attachment screw holes are lined up in the same way your Erica6 fits onto your PC chassis. And even if it did, you would have to purchase a new processor, which are rather pricey -an i7-10700 going to cost you around $170 or beyond via eBay, and probably a different heatsink too, come to think of it.
Anyway, I hope you understand what I'm saying.

Why Intel? A very good question.
Part of it is because I am very familiar with Intel processors all the way from the 2nd generation.
Intel's processors win for me in terms of ease of overclocking, raw gaming performance and the best balance of performance in both gaming and productivity at more accessible preowned price points.

But is there a board that fits my case and supports my AMD CPU and future AMD CPU that I may want to buy? I think I read that somewhere that my current CPU is the fastest this board supports... Unless there has been a firmware that supports faster AM4 CPU's? I used to be intel all the way, but intel grew in price vs AMD.... The front edge of the board I need to fit, but I plan I getting a video card anyways. I guess I'm even willing to buy a new case. But I enjoyed the front USB ports and the front Media slot..

Well, as far as budget is concerned, I buy my processors used (mostly) via eBay. Sometimes waiting until I spot a great deal. I have been lucky up to this moment in time with all of them, including an i7-4790K, i7-6900K, i7-9700KF, Xeon E3-1280 v6, i9-9900KS, etc. It is the same for graphics cards: AMD cards may (sometimes) be more affordable, but Nvidia cards are -in my opinion at least, and on balance, the better graphics cards. -But I digress, my bad.
Honestly, I don't think that there is a motherboard that would fit in your case and supports both your AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and faster/better AMD processors. Btw, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G is comparable with an Intel i7-11700K, nothing too shabby either.
None of the HP System Pavilion Desktop TP01-2xxx Users seen here (with SSID: 8906) have been able to fit a faster AMD processor than yours.
