Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am having issues with Adobe After Effects and believe that moving from a 4 core to an 8 core system is a good idea.

Can I upgrade from my current HP computer? It has p7-1446s with AMD A10-5700 APU with Radeon HD graphics 3.4 Ghz.

If so, what to purchase?

I have already switched to a solid dtate drive, upgraded to 32 GB RAM and installed the recommended Nvidia Graphics card.

You could consider getting the AMD A10-5800K which as far as I can tell is the fastest AMD Socket FM2 CPU and which would yield a 6~10% better performance compared with your A10-5700 as per:  https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-A10-5800K-APU-2012-DTr-vs-AMD-A10-5700-APU-2012-DTr/2007vs....
