I have decided to upgrade my All In One desktop with a new SSD, as I believe that my hard drive had problems: circular error messages with BIOS. So, I already purchased a Crucial MX500 1Terrabyte SSD and want to know if I will need a conversion kit to be able to continue to use the drive cage bracket. (usually needed to align screw holes.....)
Also, if my unit has an M drive (primarily to speed up the hard drive) should it be removed as the SSD drive will derive no added assistance from it?
Thanks

You will need a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter unless the existing mechanism has screw holes for the 2.5. The holes would be on the bottom rather than the side. Some older systems, the bays do not have support for 2.5
If your M.2 is an HP Optane and about 32gb or less in size, then pull it out as it is not needed. You might consider replacing it with a 1 TB as I suspect M.2 is potentially far faster than your SSD.

Your reply was helpful to some extent, but not completely. Firstly, I didn't want to have to go into a dictionary's worth of explanation which is why I do not usually use forums....the back and forth tends to drive me crazy and I end up giving up!
Secondly, in explanation, I have not yet opened the AIO case up and am trying to get all of the items that I might need BEFORE I do that as I do not have the room to spread out everything after opening the case up like someone who does this for a living. Further, I explicitly gave the product number of the computer so that whomever answers could tell me what products associated with the drive system were used in manufacturing as stock. The product number/style usually does that. So, opening up the case to answer your question does me no good if I need to order something online (locally these kinds of items are really not that available near enough for me to be willing to go there without calling on the phone first for details and YOU KNOW how technical types hate to answer questions without knowing if they will be getting paid!
So, I will need to order the conversion kit (bracket) online, along with any other M1 or2 you mentioned. Thank you.
