I have an HP Pavilion 6000 series with 4 GB of Ram. Can I just add 2 4 GB of ram to increase to 12 GB or do all the sticks need to be the same?

You still have to buy all new RAM. Only option is TWO sets of 8GB kit (2x4GB), DDR3-1666.

Otherwise you will have timing errors. According to HP PartSurfer, you have 2x2GB PC10600 DDR3-1333.

Can anyone please help me on this. The computer is a Pavilion tower model p6719c. It has 4 GB of ram at the moment but is capable of being upgraded to 16GB. I have upgraded to windows 10 and really need more ram. Plan is to put in 2 4GB sticks to increase it to 12 GB but want to be sure it that will work with 2 2GB and 2 4 GB.
Thank you.

You should install matching pairs. That means all new pairs.
That unit operates in dual channel mode, so it is more efficient with paired modules. Attempting to operate with 3 modules will force single channel mode for the unmatched pair, as that slot is empty.
