I'm not familiar with upgrading PCs and what not. Would I be able to replace the SSD that is inside the 690-0073w desktop or is it unable to be removed? If I can replace it, how would I know if a certain SSD is compatible or not? What kinds would y'all recommend?
I really hope it's able to be replaced, because looking at how much space Steam plus the games I have on my laptop take up now, it looks like it's going to take up most of the 256 GB immediately and only leave me like 70 GB for future games. One game I've been wanting to play looks like it's 70 GB just for the base game so I might not even be able to do that one unless I pick and choose what to install.

Hello
It could be difficult to find a compatible model!
Here it is a particular model
find the same type compatible, may not be easy
Sometimes the site here can help:
Welcome to Crucial USA
Otherwise, you should see if possible to install a second hard drive, and put some data to save disk space

256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

installe in port m2 here
I found this model same motherboard!
But no reference found for the SSD m2

I recently upgraded the memory to 32GB, and while I had the box open, I added a SATA internal hard drive. The cables were all there. I borrowed a screw from the case, but it would be better to have four screws. Closed it up, turned it on, formatted the hard drive, and now there is another 640GB of space available. Looks like another, but the SATA cable and screws would be needed (power cable is in place).
HTH,
Scott

After some research, the process is as follows:
1) Crucial sells a guaranteed compatible PCIE NMVe SSD M.2 Key M (1TB) here
2) An adapter is needed for the PCIE NMVe SSD M.2 Key M device, see here.
3) You will need to clone the 256GB into the 1TB device, Macrium Reflect 7 (free version)
Then you swap out the M.2 SSD's.
Why did you jump into another OP (original poster) inquiry? I see nothing of merit 🤔
The OP wanted storage & speed. Your option granted storage at 600Mb/sec versus the SSD at 2000Mb/sec.
I agree with @Prométhée

Well, the title stated "storage space."
If I were the OP, I'd be interested in more options, not fewer, particularly since the cables and space are already there.
Since I actually own the same unit, rather than just look at specs and manuals, I thought a first-hand camaraderie was appropriate. Plus, a 7200rpm HDD delivers 1200Mbps, so the difference is smaller than portrayed.
But hey, y'all are the experts. I am new here, so if I stepped on someone's toes inadvertently, please help me understand how to avoid that next time.

hello sorry
the question is :
"Would I be able to replace the SSD that is inside the 690-0073w desktop or is it unable to be removed? If I can replace it
Personally I tried to answer this question precisely
Sorry, I have problems with English, but there you are obviously telling us that you have added RAM.
And that from there you took the opportunity to add a classic Hard Disk ".
Ok, that's good but it has nothing to do with what is asked!
In addition I may not be paying attention, but it does not seem to me that the model of your pc was indicated, so in addition I had a doubt ..
As it can happen sometimes, we give an opinion when we do not have the same PC, so it can be different
In addition I find that the turn of the message was not very precise, if you do not know anything in computer this does not mean much:
"Closed it up, turned it on, formatted the hard drive, and now there is another 640GB of space available"
That said, I appreciate having help on a subject.
But from the moment, when the user, has not yet replied to the first message, adding replies on replies, the user may be finally a little lost, because each one having given a more or less contradictory opinion.
it is worth it and still subject, if the answer given adds something clear, precise and with a supplement useful for the user!
If I have no answer to give, then yes, any help is welcome
[edit] NB
Plus, a 7200rpm HDD delivers 1200Mbps, so the difference is smaller than portrayed.
Again I may not understand what you mean here, but not , sorry, a classic Sata hard drive is not comparable to an SSD
I installed an SSD in place of my hard drive on my pc year 2013, and the difference is huge it is the day and the night, I would not go back, The SSD is clearly faster

Agree again. The conventional mechanical hard drive is being replaced by the SSD, which is 3-4 times faster.
