Pavilion 690
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am running simulations that occupy 30 GB of memory. My desktop has 16 GB RAM and a 31 GB HDD virtual space which is too small/slow for the app. I need to replace it with a larger  SDD. Is it even possible?

I don't know what is your Pavilion 690, must be Pavilion 690-something. Anyway, you can replace it current HDD/SSD with larger (capacity) SSD. Since I don't know your machine, I use the following machine as an example

     https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06124756

which has

128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 Solid State   and 1TB of 7200RPM drive

You can upgrade 128GB to 1TB or more. You can also replace 1TB of HDD to 2TB of SSD such as

I have HP 690-0034.  Recently upgraded SSD from 128GB to 1TB.  Chassis is now getting very hot.  Do I need to upgrade cooling my cooling fan.  If so, will I need to upgrade power supply?
