HP Pavilion Elite HPE-257c Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to upgrade my video card if possible for my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-257c Desktop PC.

I have upgraded the RAM to 16 GB. The card that is in it is the AMD Radeon HD 5570 1 GB DDR-3 which is what came in it. I am not a gamer but I do run the Adobe suite including PhotoShop and Video editing with Premier. The current card I have is not powerful enough to run some of the application features anymore. Is there a card any of you techies could recommend?

@AbbeG,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-257c Desktop PC (BK424AA), as fitted with an MSI IONA motherboard, can be upgraded up to 4 x 4GB of DDR3 PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 240-pin RAM sticks, which will down throttle to 1333 MHz.

As per: HP PartSurfer, your stock power supply is a 300-watt power supply (p/n: 5188-2625).

With this stock power supply, you can power a GTX 1060 3GB (or 6GB) graphics card, as seen here, for example: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/46405115.

Please be advised that this card requires one 6-pin PCIe power cable, and it is unclear to me if your power supply comes with a 6-pin PCIe power cable, or if you have to use a power adapter cable. You could install a GTX 1050 2GB (or 4GB) card, which does not require a PCIe power cable, as seen here, for example: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/60764291.

Your motherboard is 24-pin ATX-power enabled, meaning, you could swap your power supply with an industry standard ATX power supply if you want a more powerful graphics card, as long as you watch its dimensions for fit inside your desktop.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
