tried that didn't work either is there a HP diagnostic site I can go to online to check the computer I tried chat but they just want to refer me to a repair center any other ideas the computer came with 2x2gb of 10600 1333mhz ram not the 1600 because it was refurbished I don't know what its previous life was but it hadn't been converted for network use.no tell tail plug or conectors on the back.

I just don't get your PC!
The memory should be running at 1600 MHz.
The way I gave you to update the BIOS should have been foolproof.
That is the only way I update the BIOS' on my HP business desktop PC's. Never had a problem.
There is a HP diagnostic program you can download...the last one on the page (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 3-in-1 USB Key), would be your best option.

I couldn't get this to run either everthing is working just at 1333 so I think I'll just leave it as is its a working computer just frustrating thank you so much for all your help and advice I think we've tried everything I know HP has a diagnostic tool I've used before from the help center do you know where it find it?

I down load it when I trid to run it from f10 it didn't work but thanks I'll just live with it let you know when I get the mother board in the next few days will probaly have a couple of questions hope it works!Tks for everything reqards Richard
